MOUNT HOOD — The Tigard High School boys ski team, with another strong performance, wrapped up second place in the Metro League final standings.
The Tigers, who finished third in the team placings at Saturday’s league giant slalom event held at Mt. Hood Meadows, finished the regular season with 78 points, putting them behind only Jesuit, which scored 92, in the final standings.
With the second place finish, the Tigers, who finished third in the team standings at Saturday’s league giant slalom event held at Mt. Hood Meadows, are now moving on to compete in the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association state championships, which will be held March 3-5 at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Among the Tigard boys competing for the team at the state meet will be junior Corey Myers, sophomore Sam Fusick, senior John Sarvay, senior Taylor Gentry, senior Dan Millar and Matt Keefer.
Myers had a strong regular season performance for the Tigers. He placed third in the league in giant slalom competition while taking fourth in both the slalom and combined.
Fusick was fifth in slalom, sixth in combined and seventh in giant slalom.
Sarvay was eighth in giant slalom and 10th in combined.
Gentry and Millar were ninth and 10th, respectively, in league slalom competition.
For the Tigard girls, Andrea Fisher and Willa Ford will also be going to the state championships.
