The process for sending care packages is simple, Hall said. Simply go to the post office, Purchase a special pre-made box, fill it up and ship them out.
“They’re a flat fee, which is really nice for shipping,” she said.
The boxes sell for around $10.
Hall filled her box with items from Costco.
“I filled it up with some little things that will remind them of home,” she said.
Hall filled her box with microwave popcorn, granola bars, puzzle books and batteries.
But it soon became clear that one box would not be enough to send all of the items that she had planned.
“I was gonna just do the one box, but it got too full, plus there’s this guy in my office who makes wonderful smoked salmon, and we’re going to bag some of that up and send that over, too.”
Included in her packages is a note from Hall, asking for a specific list of items that they will need.
“Since we don’t have any contact with anybody over there, it’d be nice to know what it is that they really could use,” she said.
Hall has also contacted family members about creating a third box.
“I gave them a list of items that (the soldiers) could use, and I told them to think about these other people out there making sacrifices for us,” she said.
Hall hopes to send a third box in time for Thanksgiving.
