Businesses in Tualatin may still be struggling in this economy, but Tualatin Chamber of Commerce CEO Linda Moholt said business owners are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The mood right now in the business community is “cautiously optimistic,” Moholt said.
“People are starting to say, ‘We may not be hiring yet, but we’re no longer trying to furlough – we’re trying to get people that we have on board back to work full time,’” Moholt said. “I think there’s definitely a little more optimism out there – and certainly more than last year at this time.”
And a good way for businesses to tap into that optimism is to connect with other businesses through the chamber, Moholt said.
To encourage the expansion and influence of its membership, the chamber has launched a membership drive that will last through the month of March.
“Every year we try to focus in on things that will grow our chamber,” Moholt said. “We haven’t had an official membership drive for awhile, so we thought this was a great opportunity to get the word out about the program and the services we’re offering to the community.”
The drive offers existing members a chance to get their next year’s membership dues waived if they bring in two new members.
