Ricardo Serrano was found guilty Friday morning on 10 counts of murder in the November 2006 close-range shootings of a Bethany-area mother and her two young sons.
Jurors took less than a day to convict Serrano on the charges, which include aggravated murder, a crime for which he could face the death penalty.
The court will decide his punishment during a hearing that begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 2.
Washington County Circuit Judge Steven L. Price gave the eight-woman, four-man jury the case at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, after more than two hours of closing statements in which prosecutors and defense attorneys sparred over the evidence and pointed out flaws in each other’s case.
Beaverton’s Ricardo Serrano is accused in the case of killing 37-year-old Melody Dang and her sons, 16-year-old Steven Dang and 12-year-old Jimmy Dang, during the evening of Nov. 2, 2006. Prosecutors said Serrano killed the three as revenge against Melody Dang’s domestic partner, Mike Nguyen, who had an affair with his wife, Melinda Serrano.
