Larry McDonald has only lived in Tualatin for a year and half, but he says he already knows he can do a better job than current city leaders.
“I’m pro-business,” he said. “I don’t hear that from a lot of council.”
McDonald officially announced this week that he will be seeking election for Position 1 of Tualatin City Council, a spot currently held by Jay Harris, who has been on council since 2002. Along with Harris, councilors Donna Maddux and Chris Barhyte, as well as Mayor Lou Ogden, will be up for re-election this fall.
McDonald said his goals as councilor would be focused on creating economic development in Tualatin, lowering the cost of government and encouraging city growth. He said that he sees current city leaders as being anti-growth, and too concerned with things like recreation and parks when essential government services go understaffed.
“I’m going to be addressing the actual problems that we have,” he says. “Which is the lack of jobs.”
