Tigard-Tualatin School District Superintendent Rob Saxton will discuss and take questions regarding the school district at Washington County’s Public Affairs Forum, Feb. 1. at 11:30 a.m., at the Old Spaghetti Factory, 18925 N.W. Tanasbourne Drive, across from the Evergreen movie theater in Tanasbourne.
The forum provides a common meeting place for the interchange of ideas to stimulate thinking on civic matters. The forum meets weekly to discuss county and regional issues with guest speakers.
The Tigard High School swimming pool will be celebrating its 40th birthday, next week, in a two-day event. Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6 will feature hours of aquatic activities, including a “dive-in” movie screening of “Finding Nemo,” and a midnight-mile challenge.
The event is being hosted by Save Tigard-Tualatin Pools, a grassroots organization working to keep Tigard and Tualatin high schools’ swimming pools open after it was announced that they would be closing in June. Donations are currently being accepted.

Tualatin will host an open house Feb. 4 to present its ideas and vision for downtown Tualatin, and to discuss extending the urban renewal district in place since 1975.
The city will discuss the following topics:
- The seven principles of the vision for the city, as crafted by the city council.
