Bryan Keith Savage, beloved son of Sheryl and her husband Tom Knight of Boise, Idaho, died Nov. 30 at home of complications from renal (kidney) failure. A resident of the Portland area before moving to Tigard in 1994, he was 44 years old.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1965, in New York City.
He attended schools in Scappoose, graduating from Scappoose High in 1983. He then attended Willamette University and then the University of Oregon.
In September 2004 he was diagnosed with renal failure. He had been sick for several years before being diagnosed, but fought the disease courageously and in the last several years was able to volunteer his services at a friend’s business.
Bryan Keith Savage was a gentle soul and looked after his pets with concern and love. His greatest love was saltwater fish, coral and other aquatic animals. He was good at solving problems and growing coral in his many tanks. Gardening was one of his favorite hobbies. He enjoyed growing vegetables and had a large herb garden. His compassion led him to care for a rabbit with a broken back for more than eight years and care for a cat that a friend couldn’t take with him when he moved.
Survivors include his mother Sheryl and her husband Tom Knight; two uncles; four cousins; three special second cousins; three stepbrothers and one stepsister.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents Bob and Annie Lee and uncle Richard Lee.
Services were in the care of Young’s Funeral Home.
